Located in Dhangadhi, the main city of Sudurpashchim Province, the Kailali Public Library is the oldest community library in the Sudurpashchim region. On my own as the Secretary of this library, and also on a personal level, I extend a heartfelt welcome to all of you to our public library and its website.
Ensuring access to knowledge, information, and study opportunities for all sections of the community is our shared goal, and your participation and support are extremely important in achieving this mission.
The Kailali Public Library is not merely a collection of books and newspapers; it has been established as a center for study, research, creativity, and lifelong learning. The library provides books, journals, magazines, and reference materials on various subjects such as literature, education, history, religious studies, sociology, science, and technology. These resources address the reading and learning needs of students, teachers, professors, writers, researchers, and the general public, while also striving to nurture and enhance their reading habits.
What began as a small initiative has today successfully established itself as the largest and most well-resourced library in the Sudurpashchim region. The library currently operates from a three-storey building and continues to expand its services. It houses more than thirteen thousand books across various disciplines. In addition, more than five dozen local and national daily, weekly, fortnightly, and monthly newspapers and magazines in different languages are regularly available.
The library also provides important study materials for preparation for public service examinations, teaching service exams, banking exams, and other competitive examinations. We remain committed to continuously improving library management, expanding services, and enhancing resources. In this effort, we highly value the cooperation and suggestions of library staff, concerned institutions, and the reader community.
Since its establishment, the Kailali Public Library has been regularly organizing various literary activities in Dhangadhi. Poetry gatherings, book discussions, literary interactions, and poetry competitions are still being conducted on a continuous basis. To encourage writers and literary figures and to honor literary contributions and creations, the library has established more than two dozen national-level awards and prizes.
By organizing book exhibitions, discussion programs, training sessions, workshops, and literary events, the library has been fostering an environment of knowledge exchange within the community. We kindly request your active participation in such programs to gain maximum benefit.
We are continuously striving to promote a culture of reading in a peaceful, study-friendly, technology-oriented, and inclusive environment, thereby contributing to the intellectual advancement of the community.
